CCMS Week 3

This week with my service project I met up with my student again. When we got together, we looked at her video and uploaded it to Teacher Tube. Then we embedded it into our blogs. I think her video was really great. Her and her mother put it together and it ended up looking really gret. Rain was the one who ended up editing it and making all the changes to the video.

I then went home and made the VoiceThread.


This was our last week together and it was really great. It was a lot of fun teaching her and her mom how to use the programs we have been using. It was a bit difficult because I wasn't sure how to explain how to do everything, but everything worked out really well and I think this whole service project came out well.

CCMS Week 2

This week was really good because it was our first meeting and we were able to meet in person and understand each other's projects much better. When we met we talked about everything Rain knew about her project. We ended up making a KWL Chart. From then I understood what she knew and where we should break down her information for her project.

We discussed the different things that I needed to have done and her mother was willing to make the video. It was really great because it took a lot of stress off of me and I was able to focus on the VoiceThread. We then discussed about meeting up on ore time to further examine what we have done and to close the whole project.

Right now it seems that the service project will be really good and I'm excited to see how it turns out. =]

CCMS Week 1

This week I haven't really done much. I signed up for my student last week and this week got their email. I ended up emailing my student's mom and we have been talking back and forth about when we can meet up with the student and start discussing the project and things that need to get done. The mother is really great because she has really worked well with my schedule and I appreciate her enthusiasm.She has lifted my spirits and has made me feel really positive about this whole project.

In my most recent email I sent to my students parent, I attached a document with a few instructions for what the parent should know and what to student should try to get done before the first time we meet.

I'm really excited about this project and I think it will help me a lot with a expanding my knowledge about things. I think it will help me incorporate a lot of this stuff I have learned through this course into this project and hopefully better understand the tools.

Spreadsheet

Wedding Budget Sheet

I really enjoy this spreadsheet because I think they are really creative and make a lot of information come together in one sheet. Also, I love the "tabs" because then you can break up your information onto different sheets and things are well organzied. One thing I can do is I can use this by asking students to collect information and applying it into a spreadsheet. The spreadsheet is very versatile and is good for many uses. I think that the spreadsheet is easier to read and is more organized. I can also ask students to make graphs and charts that depict the information that they have and show the correlation between the information.

Movie

This week was really fun. I got to use Movie Maker and FreeMusic to make my video. I think that these two programs are really great because Movie Maker has a lot of cool tools like you're able import your own photos. I like the flexibility it has to insert text and change the background. I think that the tools were very simple to use and that it was a lot of fun to go through. FreeMusic was really fun too. They had a variety of music and it was fun going through the list and being able to choose from different sounds. I was expecting just a few genres, but when I got to the website to my surprise, there were a bunch of them and it was something different and fun to look through.

I know that I will use these tools again in the future and be able to apply this into the classroom. I think that these tools are really great for future classroom use because they are simple and I can have my students work with them. I think that students will be able to make videos for themselves as presentations for the classroom. Also, I found the tools really fun because under transitions, they had a variety of different transitions and they were fun to play with. I spent a bunch of time playing with the transitions and also the effects. My favorite part of this activity was the effects, I didn’t end up using any because I wasn’t sure that I wanted to use them, but they were a lot of fun to play with. They had a big list of effects and they were fun and would make a great part of a presentation.
